Treks

This amazing trek starts from Asumbar Village of Ishkoman. a three hours’ drive from Gilgit to Asumbar along the beautiful River Ghizer and fertile lush green valleys of Punial and Ishkoman. Treks pass through some beautiful pastures and high passes. In Asumbar trek you will get a chance to meet Khow, Wakhi and Gujur Tribes of Hindukush.

This first beautiful trek ends at historical Sandi village of Yasin Valley. The Maduri Fort of Sandi is very famous in Yasin history which had been destroyed by Maharaja of Kashmir after killing 1500 people of Yasin here in 1863. Maduri ruins remains can be seen by the end of this first trek. Following day, we will be driving through the beautiful lush green valley of Yasin to visit the Mazar the mausoleum of brave soldier Lalak Jan Nishan-eHaider at Hundur Village camping at Darkot Village which is the last remote village of Yasin and gateway to Broghil and Wakhan Corridor. George Hayward a British Royal Geographical Society explorer was killed here in July 1870 whilst he was attempting to cross Darkot Pass to Wakhan Corridor. You can visit the big rock where he camped the last dark night of his life. Following day trek through local pastures towards breath-taking Attar Pass and Attar Lake which is rarely visited but very scenic.

Attar Lake is about 4 km long magnificent lake amid the high mountains of Hindukush between Darkot and Ishkoman Valleys. In 1933 initially explored by the famous British Military traveller Francis Schomberg the author of “Between the Oxus and the Indus”. He describes the view towards Ishkoman as an immense amphitheatre, surrounded by a circle of snowy peaks and hanging glaciers. After heading toward Ishkoman Valley and crossing the famous Pakora Pass to Naltar and onto Nagar and Hunza Valley.
